Welcome to FBO Asia.Resource.

Capt's Blog Stardate 17032011:

Hello and welcome to FBO.Asia.Resource. The objective of this blog is to share experiences and impart some of the knowledge gained so others may have a better picture of what to expect when they operate into Asia. Landing at an unfamiliar foreign airport and trying to get your pax safely through CIQ and turn around your aircraft can be overwhelming if you don't know who your handlers are or what services they can offer. You may try to call your flight coordinator if you get your mobile to work, but sitting in a cubicle in Houston half a day apart , they cannot help you much either. So here is where I will share some of our experiences. At the moment I am operating within SE Asia and China. hopefully I will be flying into more exciting cities in other parts of Asia. I have heard stories about landing and handling in India so that would be a good experience to write about.

I will attempt to get a few contributors who flies to different destinations or uses a different handler so the wealth of experience and knowledge will be even greater. At the end of the day, your pax are happy, you feel safe and secure that your aircraft is ready and we can all head for the bar and get our well deserve drinks.

WMSA

East or West, Home is best! Home base to us is Subang, SZB/WMSA. Pretty long single runway with ILS and light traffic. Most GA operates into Subang because of its proximity to the city of KL. The only issue is the almost daily TS with lightning that occurs in mid afternoons. TEMPO usually lasts a couple of hours but from onset it will dissipitate within 30 minutes. Nearby WMKK would be your alternate.

After landing from international destinations you will be directed to Skypark for CIQ clearance. Usually Bay 36 onwards are reserved for GA and with prior arrangements limousines are allowed to the ramp area. After offloading pax and cleared CIQ, we will taxi back to our nest which is D'nest Aviation. (Exercise caution when taxying at night because, there's no taxi edge lights and the taxi lights do not lead all the way to D'nest) There are a few more handlers here but I can only speak for Dnest since it's our FBO. A 1 hour tech stop and onward clearance should be possible depending on availability of refueling bowsers here.

Dnest Aviation FBO

They happen to be the biggest FBO with 3 hangars (which can accommodate G550 and Global Express) and they offer all aviation services including MRO. Refueling can also be provided by PETRONAS. Everyone speaks English. Nearest hotel resort at Saujana is just 10 minutes away and depending on traffic, downtown is 45 minutes away. For foreign registered aircraft, onwards domestic operations needs permits which can be arranged by Dnest and aircraft can depart straight from Dnest apron. Only onward international destinations aircraft will have to be position at Skypark for CIQ and passengers boarding. Customs will diligently checked bags in and out. If you have petty cash of more than USD10K, you are suppose to declare and obviously no contraband items.
Home Sweet Home
